B's Bakery is a home based bakery where everything is made from scratch. I consider myself a one stop shop because if you want it, whether it be a cake, pie, cookies, candied apples and just about anything sweet I can make it for you. I started my bakery in 2012 after trying my hand at making my grandmother's Pound Cake recipe, now famously known as  "Crack Cake". My customers coined it as such because they say it literally has you coming back for more.

 

Initially, I had no knowledge of baking or any formal training in cake decorating, but I wanted to give it a try after my youngest out of my three handsome sons wanted to attend a summer youth football camp. At the time being a single parent supporting 3 kids the finances just wasn't there to afford the camp but I was determined to come up with the money. One day while working at my day job as a VPK teacher, I decided to create a flyer to sell my grandmother's pound cake to help raise the money. I wasn't sure how things would turn out but to my surprise I sold 14 cakes in 1 day. It was then that I knew I was on to something. I was excited and scared all at the same time and I raised enough money for my son to
attend the football camp and I even made enough money to purchase all of the necessary gear that he needed.

 

For a few years all I could and would bake was the "Crack Cake" and sweet potato pies but I began to get inquiries about other flavored cakes, and custom decorated cakes which again I had no knowledge of. I was not going to allow a lack of education stop me so I enrolled for cake decorating classes at my local Michael's store where I learned the basic cake decorating techniques. Even after learning fondant I was soooooo afraid to decorate a cake, but I wanted to turn my hobby into a full-time business.

In my earlier years in the business, to find different cake decorating techniques and keep up with the latest trends I would spend late nights watching cake decorating videos, and my weekends was spent perfecting my craft. It wasn't until I designed and created my own birthday cake in 2015 that my business took off and started to bloom. I am a self taught baker who specializes in traditional and custom cakes, as well as treats. The passion and love that goes into my work can be tasted in every bite.
